Chef Shaun Doty
Chef Shaun Doty’s career has spanned the globe, but his passion lies in creating simply prepared contemporary fare in Atlanta. His extensive culinary experience is the driving force behind his newest concepts, Bantam + Biddy and Chick-a-Biddy, fast-casual chicken restaurants featuring local free-range and pastured chicken.
Doty began his culinary career at The Grape, a bistro in Dallas, before traveling to Charleston, S.C. to study the Culinary Arts at Johnson & Wales University. After graduation, he spent two years in Atlanta working under Chef Guenter Seeger at The Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead. Later, Doty pursued culinary stints throughout France and Belgium, including the renowned Michelin-starred restaurants Comme Chez Soi, Restaurant Bruno, Restaurant Claude Dupont, Restaurant Barbizon and Restaurant Troisgros. Doty returned to Atlanta launching MidCity Cuisine, which was recognized by Atlanta Magazine as “Restaurant of the Year” in 2003.
In October 2006, Doty opened Shaun’s, a casual neighborhood bistro, and in May 2010, he founded YEAH! BURGER, an eco-friendly eatery serving customizable burger combinations. Two years later, he partnered with Lance Gummere to open Bantam + Biddy, a family-friendly restaurant offering Southern favorites made with seasonal local ingredients. In July 2012, he opened Chick-a-Biddy, a modern diner with farm-fresh chicken, creative cocktails and fresh-pressed juices and smoothies, and in January 2014, the partners opened their second Bantam + Biddy location.
When he’s not in the kitchen, Doty is involved in local charities relating to autism and pervasive developmental disorder. He also serves on the advisory council of the Atlanta Food and Wine Festival.
