Raised in Minneapolis by her mother, award-winning restaurateur Leeann Chin, Chef Katie Chin has worked in the catering and restaurant industry from a young age. But as a time-pressed adult, she adopted the cuisine of takeout and junk food until her mother intervened, telling her that she could make something healthy in the time it took her to go out to a restaurant. Feeling back in touch with her culinary roots, she opened Double Happiness Catering, and hosted many events for the high fashion and entertainment industries.
She is author of "300 Best Rice Cooker Recipes", co-author of "Everyday Chinese Cooking" and author of "Everyday Thai Cooking". She co-hosted the PBS cooking series, "Double Happiness", with her mother. Her numerous television appearances include "TODAY" and "The Daily Buzz", as well as specials for the Food Network and Fine Living. She has been featured in Glamour, Family Circle, Cooking Light, Bon Appétit, Self, Angeleno, Hamptons, Elle, Daily Candy, Real Simple, Los Angeles Timesand Ventura Blvd magazine. She was a guest judge on "Iron Chef America" and a featured guest on "Food(ography)" and "Good Day New York". She is currently the Culinary Ambassador to City of Hope and, as such, was a featured celebrity chef at the White House’s 135th Easter Egg Roll.
